Porsche- Black Kitty
I need to find a home for a sweet, petite, spayed female cat. Her name is Porsche and she is 4 years old. Her living arrangement needs to improve! I rescued her from a cardboard recycling container behind a local grocery store. She was about 3 weeks old at the time. She was very thin and dehydrated. There were no other kittens or a momma cat around. I placed a live trap nearby in hopes of catching the momma if she was there, but no such luck. So I am assuming some heartless human placed her inside of the container. Her recovery was touch and go for several days and she eventually turned around for the better. Once she gained some weight she turned into a very fast, tiny, shiny black speedster…hence the name Porsche! She has been up for adoption since she was about 5 months old but no one has fell in love with her so we just kept her and continued to advertise her being adoptable.
She does get along with our older barn kitty that is very mellow, but the rest of the cats are just getting after her constantly. We have 6 litter boxes throughout the house and she does use them when no other cats are around, but she does get very intimidated by the other cats and will pee at the sight of some of our other cats. My husband has had enough of the peeing and insisted that she be moved outside. We live in an area that has many coyotes and great horned owls, so I built a kennel for her. I would let her out during the day and lock her up at night and this was working well for her, until the other outside cats chased her up a mine shaft that is on an adjacent piece of property. She was there for 5 nights with the rain coming down on her. We didn't get any sleep and she most likely didn't either. The mine shaft is in very poor shape and it was quite dangerous for her if she fell and it was very hard figuring out how to safely get her down from it. We did do it, but it was very scary. Since then she has not been let loose from the kennel unless I am right there to watch her for short excursions. It's just very hard to have to keep her contained all of the time. I have advertised her in the local papers, local radio station, Craigslist (Spokane area) and have had no luck with anyone wanting her. I have tried everything to find her a good safe home and time is running out. I have had a couple of calls for her but when they find out she is a black kitty they just say we'll think on it…without even bothering to meet her. If they would have just come to meet her they would have fallen in love with her no matter what they think of her color.
She is an awesome mouse eliminator. She would be OK with a cat-friendly dog, but if they chase cats, it's not going to work. An indoor/outdoor home on a quiet street would be ideal or even as a shop or porch kitty. She is small so keeping her inside the home or shop at night would keep her safe from nighttime predators such as coyotes and owls. Also if she was to be an outside kitty they would need to keep her safely contained until she knew that she had a new home and was comfortable with her surroundings. I apologize for being very picky on her home but she deserves a safe home. She is very affectionate and has a lot of love to give. I'm hoping maybe you could list her on your website or know of a perfect home for her. I am very willing to drive her to the west side of the state for the perfect home.
